International broadband developer Nava Networks has been issued a Facilities Based Operator (FBO) license to link Singapore and Australia with a new submarine cable.
Claimed to be the newest submarine cable landing point in Singapore, Nava Networks' Nava-1 cable will land at the Changi North site, as part of a plan to make the country a regional hub for telecommunications.
The cable will link Singapore with Australia and Indonesia with state-of-the-art broadband intercity services to carriers and service providers.
"There is a strong industry focus on growing retail revenues in this financial year, but Asia continues to experience spectacular demand for bandwidth," Nava Director of Sales & Marketing Brett O'Riley said.
"The link that Nava-1 provides with the Australian market only serves to support the continued growth in economic development between the two countries and the Asian region and Australasia in general," he said.
Nava Regional Director Jim Schweigert says Nava Networks was issued its FBO license by the Infocomm Development Authority in Singapore.
"This enables full service carriers to focus their efforts, skills and balance sheets on meeting their retail customer's demands.
"Recent advances in optical switching and 10 Gigabit wavelength technology were unlocking new opportunities for carriers and developers alike, on both submarine and terrestrial systems," he said.
