Even though Napster remains at the top of the charts with 2.6 million unique visitors, the research firm found that traffic to KaZaa skyrocketed 142 percent within that eight-week period, from 179,000 visitors to 433,000.
Bearshare had an increase of 39 percent, jumping from 197,000 visitors to 274,000 visitors; Audioglaxy had a 32 percent increase, from 534,000 visitors to 707,000 visitors; and iMesh saw an increase of 26 percent, from 262,000 visitors to 331,000.
The report also found that teenagers spent more time and accessed more pages on file-sharing sites than any other demographic group during this period.
The study shortly follows Jupiter Media Metrix's report that Napster usage worldwide has plunged 31 percent, from 26.4 million to 18.3 million from February to June. In 14 leading wired countries, the total time spent using Napster decreased 65 percent among home consumers, from 6.3 billion minutes in February to 2.2 billion minutes in June.
