Mincom scores Defence logistics deal

in brief Mincom announced yesterday that it had won a deal with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for the design and implementation of the second phase of a logistics program set to cost over $650m.

This phase of the project was intended to provide Defence with better visibility across its supply chain, including overseas operations, and is due to be completed in 2011.

The first phase of the project, which was also contracted to Mincom, is scheduled to finish in July this year, after having been delayed due to a "software issue".

"There is no room for error when it comes to military logistics," Mincom chief, Bruce Jaquemard, said in a statement released yesterday.

"With the completion of [this phase], the ADF will ensure it has the right materials, resources, people and support, in the right place at the right time, to boost operational effectiveness in remote locations where troops are deployed."
