Search and directory service Looksmart Australia has been ranked number one in the world, with a 76.7 percent network reach in the US topping Microsoft's 74.8 percent.

According to figures released by Jupiter Media Metrix, Looksmart Australia's search listings network has the largest reach of any online advertising network.

"Two of the top three advertising networks are really search listing networks," LookSmart's chief operating officer Jason Kellerman said.

Ratings for the month of June show Looksmart reached 76.7 percent of US Internet users, slightly higher than Microsoft's reach of 74.8 percent. GoTo Premier Network won third place with 70 percent reach, the Link Exchange Network reached 58.5 percent of users, and 24/7 Media with 51 percent.

DoubleClick came in seventh place with 46.6 percent reach, according to Jupiter Media Metrix.

This report must be either incorrect or misleading. How can Looksmart be ahead of Google? I cannot believe that 77% of users use it. Because sites have to pay to get listed on Looksmart there are is so much more information availiable to free listing sites like Google.
