America Online held onto the No. 1 top Web media property spot in August with 67.2 million unique visitors. Yahoo and Microsoft switched spots to round out the top three in the latest Media Metrix report.

Yahoo moved up a notch to No. 2 with about 52.0 million users visiting at least once in the given month, switching places with Microsoft's sites which took the No. 3 spot in August with 51.96 million unique visitors.

In July, AOL had seen 62.5 million unique visitors and Microsoft had seen 50.3 million unique visitors. Yahoo had logged 49 million unique visitors in July.

NBC Internet was kicked off the top 10 site list in August, ending up at No. 12, as Amazon.com moved up to No. 10 from No. 11 in July.

The report found that Americans spent over one hour per person online per usage day and each user on average viewed over 700 different Web pages in August.

According to Media Metrix, users spent an average of 76.7 minutes online per usage day and viewed over 703 different Web pages per day.
