Online recruitment company, jobnet.com.au, has claimed the leading place in the Australian IT recruitment market, with 20,000 jobs currently advertised, according to its Managing Director, Kim Scott.

In the fast maturing online recruitment market, Jobnet has established a significant niche market providing services directed at IT professionals. Its reach comes both through the development of its own site and syndication to sites such as ZDNet Australia and IDG Communications.

Scott said that the advent of the Internet has provided employers with a superior avenue for recruiting staff.

"Online advertising has proven to be a significantly better medium for Advertisers in quality and quantity of result, and through a dramatic reduction in cost." Scott pointed out. "The ability for advertisers to learn effective online branding techniques looks to be the only major barrier left for the whole sector moving completely online."

While the site has high profile competitors such as Seek and employment.com who have recently engaged in major television advertising, JobNet's Marketing Manager, Marc Iannacone, said that his company believes that online promotion is still the best form of advertising to the IT audience.

"The Jobnet audience has already been on the Internet for years and IT professionals are generally the most savvy Internet users," he said.
