Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is still the richest man on the planet, according to the latest ranking by Forbes magazine..

The Associated Press reports that Gates has a net worth of US$58.7 billion, down from last year's US$60 billion, while investing guru Warren Buffett came in at second place.

According to AP, Microsoft's Paul Allen slipped behind Buffett, while Oracle founder Larry Ellison, last year's second-richest man, saw his net worth plummet from US$47 billion to US$26 billion.

But that was still good enough to make him No. 4.
