Exclusive: HP slammed by ex-employee

Hewlett Packard's business practices have been questioned in an email correspondence sent out by an ex-employee of the company.

The letter, signed by Catherine Parets and addressed to ZDNet Australia, said that due to the quality of the company's products being undermined, she has relinquished her position in the customer support division of Personal Computing and Peripherals at Hewlett Packard France.

"When your PC is returned for maintenance because a part needs replacement, it is not a new part that is installed on your PC, but an old refurbished one that is taken from a PC on display in the showroom," Parets said.

In addition, Parets claims that they are also replacing the parts with ones that are "found to be defective on a similar PC that was repaired by us previously," she said.

"With such unfair practices I must now distance myself from HP."

However, an HP spokesperson from Australia stated "it is HP Australia's policy to repair any broken parts with new parts."

HP's spokesperson also confirmed Parets did work for the company but said she does not know her current employment status.
