DoubleClick secures Sabela, denies monopoly

Online Ad serving technology company DoubleClick has confirmed its global acquisition of Sabela's ad serving technology and client base.

The deal, however, does not include purchase of all assets from Sabela's parent company 24/7 Media Technology Solutions.

"DoubleClick has only bought the intellectual property assets of Sabela's ad-serving technology and access to the client base," DoubleClick Managing Director of Australasia, Ralf Hirt said.

"We didn't buy the whole company."

Doubleclick would not disclose the sale price, which has been rumoured to be around the several million dollar mark.

Sabela has a client base of 150 companies on a global scale. DoubleClick is offering them a smooth transition to its own ad-server technology.

Hirt denied that the company now monopolised the Australian ad-server market, saying customers do have other solutions other than its DART product.

"DoubleClick does aim for leadership in the market, however, there are other solutions available for customers, such as home-grown solutions," he said.
