For the life of the contract, Siemens will manage all the IT infrastructure and maintain and support existing software applications as well as providing IT project management services, Amcor said.
The contract is worth around AU$200 million with savings to Amcor anticipated to be somewhere in the region of 15 percent to 20 percent.
"It is important that Amcor remains a leader in the efficient use of IT within its businesses," Amcor MD Russell Jones said.
"By outsourcing to a world leader in Siemens, we will achieve both improved capabilities and more efficient use of resources across our wide range of applications."
It's been a week of good news for Amcor, which was given the go-ahead from the European Commission to proceed to merge its European flexible packaging operations with Danisco Flexible and Akerlund & Rausing.
The merger will see AMC pump AU$712 million into the venture.
