ASX Web site offline for two hours

The Australian Stock Exchange Web site suffered a technical glitch this morning, which caused share price and company announcements to be offline for up to two hours.

The ASX Web site share price and company announcements were both affected as the site experienced a "minor technical glitch," causing it to be offline for two hours after the market opened at 10 o'clock this morning.

"Everything else [on the site] is fine," said ASX General Manager Production Services, Jeff Olsson.

The system was back up and running at midday, however it has been dogged by a traffic jam with announcements delayed by up to 50 minutes.

Once the Web site is reset, "the information starts from square one, and needs to catch up," Olsson said.

"It was a minor problem, however it took two hours to reset the database to ensure that it wasn't a critical problem before going back online," Olsson said.
