A virus warning alerting computer users not to open emails with the subject -New Pictures of Family" is a hoax written by time wasters, according to anti-virus vendor Symantec.

The email warning, which encourages recipients to forward it on to everyone in their address book, says the virus will erase your whole C-drive.

Hoax virus warnings pop up on the Internet time and time again, and usually IT savvy people will spot them, as they make outrageous claims that can't be pinned down to reputable security sources, according to Symantec's David Banes. However, -most users read them and think they're true," he said.

This latest hoax suggests that Intel is the source of the virus discovery.
