The denial-of-service tool known as Trinoo has been ported to Windows 9x/2000, announced several security and antivirus companies this week. The new version of Trinoo, which will install itself on a user's computer if the user opens the program, allows an attacker to use the computer to attack other networks with a deluge of data like the one that downed Yahoo! and others for several hours at the beginning of the month.

Computer security firm ICSA.net theorized that the trojanized Trinoo could be an attempt to gain control of a large number of computers to conduct an attack.
