    Great, 2 years late and $100m over budget. Another great case of "not invented here" let's do it our way. These DFAT guys should consult to the Defence Department.

    I agree with Bruce Schnier, take the human out of this process and you lose a valuable asset in the fight against crime and attacks. A computer can't see maliciousness on someones face or see that they are nervous because of the 5 pounds of hash strapped to their chest.

    the smart gate system at Sydney airport seems to be a great system, however, as my passport photo shows me without spectacles, I am required to take of my specs as I negotiate the gate system. The consequence of being without specs is that i cannot see the machine, its instructions or the slot into which I must insert the printed ticket.
