Research the key in fighting Internet stalkers

The problem of paedophiles who stalk the Internet has reared its ugly head again. The Australian Federal Police says more research is required to combat Internet crime, with commissioner Mick Keelty pointing the finger particularly at understanding those who stalk children online and how they can be rehabilitated.

According to ABC News Online, Keelty said yesterday "We need research into the profile of people who use the Internet for crime, particularly those who will prey on young people using the Internet.

"We also need some work done on profiling paedophiles so that we can have a better understanding of where they can seek assistance".

Keelty's remarks came after the Federal Police recently uncovered a massive online child pornography ring, leading to more than 200 arrests and the seizure of almost 400 computers on which more than two million images were held.
