Logica Australia in job cuts

in brief The Australian office of IT services firm Logica has recently suffered a number of redundancies.

ZDNet.com.au understands that the cuts hit Logica recently, although the company's local managing director Colin Holgate has not responded to repeated requests for comment on the matter and further information is not yet available.

Logica, formerly LogicaCMG, holds contracts with a number of large Australian organisations, such as Victoria's Department of Education, the Australian Customs Service and the New South Wales Department of Commerce.

For an overview of recent redundancies in Australia's ICT industry, see ZDNet.com.au's list.

    Poor people RiF'd -- 15/12/08

I was cut from another firm a couple of weeks ago so I know how it feels to face Christmas and New Year with no money and trying to figure out how I'll pay for everything.
I wish I'd never taken up a career in IT.

I was retrenched by Logica while on holidays.

Hoever, I received a very generous payout and access to redundancy services.

I saw the writing on the wall and left my job myself Tony W -- 24/12/08

The company was changing; management was becoming ever more demanding. Frankly there's more to life than working on several product releases at the same time with several virtual machines on the go and working until midnight for a fairly ordinary salary!

So I quit before it was forced on me. Since then I've been doing my own thing. It's been a slow start but it's building up, and I have more control over my life.

So, give me quality of life over a mad job any day.

Self fulfilling Prophecy Anonymous -- 04/02/09

Its a self fulfilling prophecy at Logica Australia. They have no business strategy that lasts more than 5 minutes and knee-jerk around until they need to manage upwards and make their excuses to UK. It may line the pockets of the mediocre executives who run the company but they are going out of business profitably with no other experience or strategy to change it. Pleanty of talk but little substance and credibility with the staff who can see through it and have been leaving in droves before this because of it as the ability to deliver continues to decline.

Thanks fo rthe info Anonymous -- 23/03/09

I was looking at a job advertisement for Logica and many thanks for people who have replied to this forum stating the facts. It seems the company is in disarray and be advised not to join them.
