The company went public on its decision this morning, citing duplication of roles within the company that had occurred as a result of three recent acquisitions. The 31 roles the security vendor has cut will come from its Melbourne research and development centre, the company said.

CA had acquired US-based identity management companies IDFocus and Eurekify last year as well as data leakage prevention company Orchestria in January this year.

"Unless suitable redeployment options are found, affected employees will be offered a comprehensive outplacement service to help them find new jobs, and will leave with severance packages that comply with industry best practice and legal requirements," CA said in a statement.

CA's Australian head Brenton Smith, who was appointed to the role in December last year, was not taking calls on the matter, according to a spokesperson.
