    These devices have such short range that you would have to drive a "detector" van through the suburbs to gain any info.

    I see the main values being advanced stock control and the fact you can add up a trolly load of shopping without moving anything.

    It's use in train tickets etc would be interesting.

    However to imply that someone can read them from a central source is ill-informed, luddite and scare mongering.
