Certainly that seems to be message from Pierre Noel, chief executive officer for the Asia-Pacific operations of security management company TruSecure. During a recent visit to Australia, Noel explained to ZDNet Australia that TruSecure's operations overseas have a great deal of credibility and, in fact, a crucial element of the company is its ICSA labs facility, which helps to certify various security products.
"It is impossible to buy an antivirus product, firewall, etc., without it being ICSA certified," explained Noel. ICSA's Certification Program has been designed to provide "assurance to the user community that ICSA-Certified products reduce security risks consistent with a set of publicly vetted and industry-accepted criteria."
But TruSecure itself, which has roughly twelve years experience in helping business to secure their networks, works hand-in-hand with companies to prevent external attacks from affecting their infrastructure. "None of our customers have been hacked," claimed Noel.
To help bolster TruSecure's reputation it provides its customers with a money-back guarantee as well as a reputation warranty. And while this level of assurance has worked well overseas, Noel explained that Australian companies wanted to be covered for more than the money they spent on TruSecure's network "hardening" services.
"Locally, our customers wanted more, which is why we've gone with St Paul [Insurance]," said Noel.
TruSecure Asia Pacific and St Paul Insurance Australia announced recently the introduction of an Internet business risk management solution that will enable organisations to be covered for material and business-loss damages.
As a result, TruSecure's Internet security assurance and certification service now comes with AU$1 million material damages insurance, with the option of adding up to AU$5 million worth of business interruption insurance from St Paul. This will cover intrusions such as virus and hack attacks.
Noel sees this as merely an extension of TruSecure's responsibilities and a reaction to its local customer's needs and requirements. "Once our customers become certified, it is our responsibility to check the security of our clients," said Noel. "You've got to have an intimate relationship..."
