Accredited open source anti-hacking course launches

The first fully accredited Open Source Security Testing Methodology (OSSTM) program -- a five day hands-on course run by penetration testing specialists Pure Hacking -- will kick off this September.

The course is designed to help administrators and senior managers protect their networks from hackers. According to Rob McAdam, chief executive of Pure Hacking, training will be delivered by professional testers and use 'real world' hacking scenarios from the world of finance, banking, insurance and education.

"Our trainers are at the leading edge of hacking and have been ethically hacking and testing computer systems for more than 5 years. Every day they are testing the online security for multinational companies right down to SMEs," said McAdam in a statement.

According to McAdam, the course will help internal staff understand how hackers work, which should in turn help the trainees to better protect themselves.

"The aim of the training is to teach skills that can be applied in the real world. Students will learn a way of thinking, and embellish that new challenge with tools in the public domain.

"Businesses must know how it's done, and how to protect themselves from it," added McAdam.
