AOL bolsters parental Net supervision tools

Parents can now control when their children go online, with AOL's new Online Timer.

-Parents with school-aged children can now choose how much time their children spend online after school and on weekends. The Online Timer is so flexible that parents can even choose to set different time limits for each child and for each day of the week," said Amanda Lacaze, CEO of AOL7.

This extends the AOL Parental Controls, which also enable parents to set the levels of Web, chat, e-mail, Instant Messages and newsgroup access for each individual screen name.

With more and more parents concerned about what their children may encounter on the World Wide Web, many will be happy they can prevent their children from going online when they are not supervised.
