Another e-mail scam is targeting Australian Internet banking customers with both ANZ and Westpac clients being targeted.

The con is unoriginal, with a message purporting to originate from the banks being blanket-spammed to Internet users.

The false message sent to Westpac customers reads: "Our new security system will help you to avoid frequently fraud transactions and to keep your deposited funds in safety.

"Due to technical update we recommend you to reactivate your account".

The link to the bank appears to be a genuine Westpac link, but instead diverts users to a fake Westpac site where they are prompted to enter in their details. As of 1:15pm today the fraudulent site was still active.
