Fast food giant McDonalds wants a bite of the cyber café phenomenon and has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with New Zealand-based e-Phone in relation to its online strategy. Hoping to re-route some Internet café traffic through its own doors, McDonalds launched its first Cyber eCafe in New Zealand last week, with E-Phone supplying the public access terminals for the venture. E-Phone would not disclose details of the Memorandum of Understanding it has with Mcdonalds, saying when and where the next cyber cafes were to open was "subject to confidentiality". The Internet terminals are managed and controlled using E-Phone's proprietary software, with Australian owned Kidz.Net software installed on each. E-Phone is the distributor for Kidz.Net in New Zealand.
