Telstra's Internet dial-up service BigPond has suffered a major outage in the last 24 hours, with thousands of customers nationwide unable to connect to the network. The current problem has shut down the network for a much longer period than several other recent disruptions that the service has suffered, according to reports. The cause of the outage is unknown at present, however a system overload could be part of the cause. Telstra believes the service will be up and running by mid-afternoon.
