update Western Australia's Department of Treasury and Finance will implement a new storage area network from vendor Fujitsu.
The department based in Perth provides economic and financial management for the state government, as well as collecting and administering revenue and undertaking a central contracting function.
According to the Western Australian government's tendering system, last week the department awarded Fujitsu a three-year contract worth AU$451,700 to implement a new storage area network. It is understood that at least three other vendors competed for the work.
Fujitsu's existing customers in Western Australia include the state's police service and health department, both of which have outsourcing relationships with the Japanese vendor.
The news comes as it's been a big few months for Fujitsu Down Under.
In mid-August Fujitsu inked an AU$21 million outsourcing deal with Melbourne's largest water retailer Yarra Valley. Just one week later ZDNet Australia revealed RailCorp NSW had outsourced its ICT operations to the vendor.
But it hasn't been all good news -- in late August NSW electricity wholesaler TransGrid overlooked Futjitsu for a new three-year outsourcing deal in favour of Mincom. Both vendors had previously been providing services to TransGrid.
