WA Attorney-General buys Cisco gear

in brief Western Australia's Department of the Attorney-General has inked an AU$950,000 contract with services giant CSC for the provision of Cisco networking hardware.

The contract was disclosed recently through the state's contracts reporting system, however, neither the department or CSC could comment by press time on the deal.

The department has a large number of functions within the state's legal system, for example administering Western Australia's courts, births, deaths and marriages systems and providing support for victims of domestic abuse. As at 30 June 2006, the department employed more than 1,769 people, according to its annual report.

The Department of the Attorney-General shares an IT function with the state's Department of Corrective Services. That Shared Services Directorate is headed up by its director Bob Berg, who reports to the chief executive officers of both departments.
