in brief The Children's Hospital in the Sydney suburb of Westmead has signed a new contract with its existing printing partner Lexmark that will deliver new technology to the facility.
The new five-year deal signed in December will deliver some 260 new printers and multi-function devices to the hospital as well as introduce new functionality such as colour photos and bar codes on patient wristbands.
In a statement issued this morning by Lexmark, the hospital's IT projects and business planning unit manager Michael Dickinson praised the vendor, saying Lexmark had invested a "significant amount" of time in catering for the specific needs of the hospital.
The hospital's IT function is led by chief information officer Ralph Hanson. The hospital has some 3,000 staff, according to Lexmark's statement, and serves some 50,000 sick children and their families each year.
