India, Hong Kong and Asean will come under his wing as area director for South Asia -- a newly created position.
Green will continue to be based in Sydney and manage the ANZ operations, which have doubled in the last 18 months to around 100 employees.
Australia and New Zealand contributes about 55 percent of its regional business, he said, adding that he hopes to replicate this performance in other markets.
NetApp has bold plans for its recently acquired storage security maker Decru, Green said during a visit to ZDNet Australia's office last week.
"We're going to make an aggressive push [for Decru] in Australia in the next six to 12 months.
"Decru will operate as a separate business unit because a number of our competitors are [Decru] resellers. We will be recruiting someone to run the business," Green said.
On June 16, NetApp announced plans to acquire the company for approximately US$272 million in cash and stock. One month later, EMC signed a reseller agreement with Decru.
For the second quarter of 2005, research firm Gartner said the top three vendors in the Australian external disk storage market were Hewlett-Packard, EMC and IBM. NetApp was ranked sixth.
According to Gartner, external disk storage revenue in Australia totalled US$75 million in the second quarter of 2005.
