KPMG to monitor Access Card project

KPMG will monitor the implementation of the federal government's health and social services access card after it was awarded the contract for program monitoring and assurance services.

The contract is one of many to be put to tender by the Office of Access Card. Last week, Booz Allen Hamilton was named lead adviser to the project.

Minister for Human Services Joe Hockey said KPMG would first have to set up an assurance framework to monitor the access card project.

"KPMG will also review the proposed project implementation plan to determine that it is comprehensive, is based on robust risk assessment, and has an effective control framework and performance reporting regime," he said.

KPMG will also review the work of Booz Allen Hamilton, and co-locate its project team within the Office of Access Card, according to Hockey.

The KPMG contract is for two years, with a two year extension option.

good analysis - they do seem to get paid VERY WELL out of liquidation. :-D I'll say one thing though, in one case people I know who worked for a company whose liquidation was being managed by kpmg, got most of their entitlements while investors got virtually nothing. So perhaps they look after staff better than investors which is the more humane thing to do.
