"delivering better services" ?? Anonymous -- 26/04/06 (in reply to #120133403)

Hell, medical staff don't / won't even triage properly !!!
People are dying as a result.

    What a waste of money.

    1984 by stealth!!!! Keith Styles -- 27/04/06

Abbott tries to convince us we NEED a smart health card which will take us all a step closer to the society portrayed in George Orwells 1984 tale of a society living under total control.
A smart card won't save any lives unless it is compulsory for ALL to carry it at ALL TIMES and even then it's mute unless it's carried on a chain around the owners neck!

He wants us to buy it on the basis of it only having basic info recorded! Hello! It's like a foot in the door to a full ID card which was rejected by a majority. We don't need it.
What we need is a health minister who is concerned with our Health and isn't always trying to centralise power. The one we have is a religious NONG and a control freak! Lord help us if he ever aspires to the top job?

If there was really a problem with treating people in emergencies for blood types/allergies it would be much easier to simply add this infomation to drivers licence. As many people carry a drivers licence as would carry this new card. Medic-Alert has been working for years helping people with allergies.

So the argument that it would save lives is null and void. We are living in 1983!

Bring it on! Darren Murphy -- 03/06/06

Why leave id creation in the hands of counterfeiters? Better centralize it with the government and make it biometric based. Save money, time and maybe even lives.
