Western Australian ASX-listed IT services firm ASG today confirmed it had won the Federal Government Civil Aviation Safety Authority's managed services deal over incumbent Darwin-based supplier CSG.
ZDNet.com.au first reported ASG's involvement earlier this month. The deal, worth $8 million over three years, spells the end of CSG's involvement with the authority, which last year acquired $60 million worth of Commander's outstanding contracts following its demise.
The CASA deal was a key part of the Group 8 contract established in 2000 that was won by Commander's IT services arm, Volante.
Services included under CASA's new contract cover help desk, desktop and mid-range infrastructure support. It also includes three two-year extensions.
Today's announcement follows the $96 million IT outsourcing contract the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) — another former Group 8 signatory — signed with HP-owned EDS last month, covering help desk, desktop, mid-range servers, LAN and storage management.
Other significant contracts still under CSG's management include the Australian Communications and Media Authority; and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA), which is determining a supplier to manage 300 PCs, 400 laptops, 400 networked printers and 150 servers.
DEWHA is believed to have awarded its contract to IT outsourcing company, Datacom, however, spokespeople would not comment on the outcome.
ASG's Canberra chief of sales and strategy Murray Rosa said the company was in advanced discussions on other significant contracts he said would likely result in further wins in coming months.
ASG subsidiary Exceed System's five-year $11 million contract with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, however, went up for grabs last month, with a new contract expected to be signed by June.
