Booz Allen scores key access card role

Booz Allen Hamilton has secured the coveted role of lead advisor to the government office charged with implementing the controversial AU$1.1 billion health and welfare access card, the Minister for Human Services, Joe Hockey, announced.

In a statement issued today, Hockey said the consultancy would work with the Office of Access Card (OAC) to project-manage implementation of the card, "providing strategic and independent advice to the Minister and the Department of Human Services".

The Booz Allen project team would be co-located within the OAC in Canberra, he said.

The initial contract -- outlining the implementation plan, business architecture, technological specifications and budget for the project - is worth AU$4 million over three months. The lead advisor is to work to a series of contracts through the life of the project, with Booz Allen's work to be reviewed by a soon to be appointed Program Monitoring and Assurance consultant.
