WA gov awards Internet contract to Amnet

Australian ISP Amnet has won a three-year contract to provide primary wholesale Internet bandwidth services to the Western Australian government.

The deal, worth AU$4.7 million if two optional one-year contract extensions are accepted, will see Amnet providing wholesale bandwidth to the Western Australian Government's Internet service, which is operated by the Department of Treasury and Finance.

The government's service facilitates secure, reliable and low-cost Internet access to 44 government departments, covering approximately 90 percent of Government Internet users.

"The awarding of the contract is a significant milestone for Amnet and an endorsement of our business model in providing high-grade IT connectivity solutions to the market" said Amnet Managing Director, Richard Whiting.
