We would be up with the UK and USA if only we didn't have to put up with the artificial retriction of the BB technology, imposed by Tel$tra.
ADSL1 has been capable of 8Mbps from day one of it's deployment, however because it didn't suit Tel$tra's sales & marketing plans we have had to put up with POBB at 1.5Mbps.

BB is capable of so much better than we have at present. ADSL 2+ will run at 24Mbps but Tel$tra are unlikely to release it because it will decimate their ISDN and Analogue services revenue. So we have to put up with 2nd best again. The Tel$tra monopoly is once again allowed to dictate our access to the latest technology.

It's all Tel$tra's fault we are that far behind the US and Europe. They are the MS of phone & net in this country. Cause of their abusive monopoly and severe profit increase at any cost polices, we have been trickled progress and innovation while it flowed for others. Only now are the several smaller players starting to break the iron curtain of telstra's shameful service in the Aus Industry. Telstra is the telecommunication equivulent of the Banks.

I've now been with Unwired for over 6 months and am generally satisfied with the service and value provided. However, I've noticed a distinct trend over that time. The speed of the service has decreased markedly. It's now not that much better than 56K dial-up at times. I'm guessing that Unwired's provisioning is not keeping up with subscriber growth.

I'm not sure if this is an issue local to my area. Anyone else having similar problems??

A word of warning. Unwired's service can best be described as pseudo-broadband. Online gamers and those looking for a consistent low-latency connection should look elsewhere. If you are looking for a service simply to browse the web or check email then Unwired is a good choice.

I HAVE BEEN CONNECTED WITH UNWIRED FOR 2MONTHS NOW, ON AN AREA IN COOGEE BOARDERLINING THEIR SERVICE AREA.
MY QUESTION IS IF THERE IS ANYONE WITH INFO REGARDING AN EXTENSION/REMOTE AERIAL TO INCREASE SIGNAL STRENGTH, AS I SOMETIMES CANNOT CONNECT.

    PLEASE REPLY TO Duncanmac25@unwired.com.au

Drop outs and mediocre speed are typical signs of a provider not keeping up the infrastructure. In this respect unwired is no different from 'wired' providers who are more interested in marketing than in providing a decent service. I have been with unwired for 9 months, can't wait until my contract finishes and I can find someone else to provide my broadband.
