According to Unwired the latest network rollout brings the company up to a near 50 percent coverage of Sydney's residential and small business population, spanning across most of Sydney's inner west, eastern suburbs, harbour and harbour foreshore.
Unwired chief executive officer, David Spence said demand for broadband in Sydney is now higher than ever.
"After a slow start, Australians are now taking up broadband and they want it in a hurry. Broadband adoption more than doubled in the past year from seven per cent to 15 per cent and we expect this trend to continue," he said.
Spence said the online community are now becoming more "sophisticated" in their broadband needs, as he claims users are moving away from dial-up services to more low cost flexible connections.
"Unwired delivers a unique broadband internet service that requires no professional installation, is completely portable within coverage areas and is competitively priced to ensure there is a plan to suit any budget," said Spence.
"It is also the perfect answer for up to 30 per cent of the Sydney population who have been unable to get broadband at all."
Unwired has a licensed spectrum that covers 95 percent of the Australia population, according to Unwired's release, which it said was acquired from the Federal Government in 2000.
The company plans to complete its Sydney network by the end of August this year, with plans to move into a VoIP service sometime in the future.
