    Telstra media Anonymous -- 18/09/08

At last count Telstra had about 190,000 customers for Bigpond's music service vs. Apple's 2.5mn. Telstra has invested huge amounts of money to get the 190K but seemingly with little result. When will they realise that they are no Apple and the Telstra brand is about as far from 'cool' as you could possibly get. Huge amounts of money and countless more layoffs will never make Telstra a desirable brand. More shareholder value down the toilet... Bunch of losers...

Apples v MediaComms?? Anonymous -- 18/09/08 (in reply to #320112189)

You are not comparing "Apples with Apples" !! Telstra is a "MediaComms" company where as Apple make cool gadgets. There is a big difference!!

Apples vs. Mediacomms Anonymous -- 19/09/08 (in reply to #320112190)

Agreed Apple does make gadgets (and good ones at that) but it also provides content in the form of movies and music which, by my reckoning, is exactly what Telstra is trying to do (rather unsuccessfully)? Telstra continues to be a company that provides expensive networks in my mind, whilst dabbling in trying to call itself a media company...

Ah yes good point...however Telstra is very much a MediaComms company. Indeed they do own 50% of FOXTEL and this restructure will only consolidate Telstra as a MediaComms company!!
