While I do think that employees need a capable spokes-person to look after their interests, Unions must realize that the days of stand-over tactics are finished.
CEPU Secretary Len Cooper shows himself to be an out of touch cave man when he states (Australian Newspaper August 5/2008) "Either we get back to the negotiating table or there will be a dispute with the full range of actions-- strikes, industrial bans and whatever else can disrupt the operations of the Company".
Good thinking Mr. Cooper wreck and damage the goose that lays the golden egg for Telstra's employees. Far better that you support Telstra against damaging Government regulation because with a strong and prosperous Telstra your chances of increased gains for your Members are greater.
We in Queensland will long remember the Electricity strike where because of Union belligerence families had their food rot in their refrigerators and because of this the public rallied against the Union and gave Joh his
victory.
Haven't learned much Mr. Cooper have you.
