what if telstra are not interested in the NBN anymore M0TT -- 26/02/09

seems to me that telstra have decided to go another way - so where will that leave the union - without a leg to stand on.

@ what if Telstra are not.... Anonymous -- 26/02/09 (in reply to #320124198)

It may leave the unions with a fully ratified agreement with the eventual NBN winner?

Or perhaps even an agreement with Telstra, following yet another possible but inevitable backdown from them?

Unions are irrelevant in the NBN context. As a union/labor stooge, your references are also irrelevant.

Really Anonymous -- 12/03/09 (in reply to #320125497)

    I disagree.

If you care to open your eyes, you will actually find that conservative political parties and conservative telco company's, are the ones who are now irrelevant to the NBN, not unions.

Unions will probably play a big part in negotiating outcomes for NBN workers, throughout a number of different facets of the build and eventual operation.

Also with the world in economic crisis and the big end of town still living the high life, whilst the everyday working Australian is being thrown onto the scrap heap, we may even find a re-emergence of mateship, a lowering of selfishness, like people such as you tend to display, and this may even lead to increased union membership and unionism in general?

Unfortunately, as a blind conservative stooge, your references are not only irrelevant but show a definite lack of unbiased intelligence.

Really Anonymous -- 14/03/09 (in reply to #320125504)

Which brannch of the CPSU do you represent seeing that you are the resident 'expert' on this post and typically (leftard parasite) cannot and will not accept others views.

Yes really Anonymous -- 14/03/09 (in reply to #320125663)

Isn't it funny, whenever those with no idea about anything, who are clearly told what to think, come here to pass on 'someone elses' views.

You obviously have no thought processes of your own and are just simply repeating Howard rhetoric, passed down from daaaaaady.

You have no basis for your own extremist, neo-Nazism, so you desperately say, which branch of the CPSU do you represent.

I represent 'no' part of the CPSU smart***e.

What I represent is mateship, looking after your fellow workers and their families interests, understanding that there are others to consider not just me, so basically the good old fashioned Australian way, etc.

These are principles that grubby little conservative stooges like you simply do not comprehend because you are too preoccupied with yourself and your own selfishness.

In tough times like these, when people are being retrenched, wages are being forced downwards, jobs sent offshore, multi-national companies avoiding paying compensation to dying workers (James Hardie v Bernie Banton), there's only one group who care and will fight for the everyday Aussie and that's the unions.

I hope, grubby little conservative, that you are retrenched or your job outsourced abroad, because if/when it is and you see that no one else gives a ***k about you, it will all become clearer.

This is when you will go crawling to the only people who care. The unions!

glad you are going Sol Anonymous -- 26/02/09

Can't wait to see the back of him.

My share holding has lost more than $5k since July 2005 and he said he was going to improve shareholder value!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A diss-enchanted field work force that for the past 4 years have been constantly in fear of keeping their employment.

The general public who now veiw telstra as a mean and nasty company to deal with.

As a field worker I am getting constantly abused about how telstra carries on and treats its customers.

A new billing software that has caused major stress for call centre workers and has further damaged telstras reputation.

Failure to secure any share of the nbn. Puts more workers under threat.

I have yet to meet a field worker who thinks he has done anything good for the company or themselves personally.

Forced un Australian american employment agenda onto a workforce that has thoroughly rejected it.

Damaged the relationship between telstra and the Government and other controlling bodies by his arrogance.

Played a game of bluff over the nbn and lost and this has put future question marks over telstras ability to earn profit in the years ahead.

Refused to come to the negotiating table with my union in regards to a better ea whilst ignoring share holders and awarding himself a massive payrise.

The list goes on and on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Achievements... Anonymous -- 26/02/09 (in reply to #320124213)

I agree with the obvious field worker above! As a field worker also though, I "HAVE" achieved personally to make many customer's happy with my repairs and service to make their Telstra experience much better. However I personally am still dis-enchanted and annoyed with the company, it's lack of union negotiatons, it's lack of fair pay rates and inequity of treatment of different workers - not to mention the degraded jobs they now force upon myself to treat me like another monkey. I feel for the customers - the company can go take a hike.

Thanks Sol, take your $20m+ and go home - I'm sure shareholders all agree you've made them happy with your NextG network (built and maintained by Ericsson & contractors - not Telstra)

points scoring nothing but a cheap shot. Anonymous -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124213)

I too am glad to see him go - I think the man presented an arogant persona.

I take issue however with statements like "refused to come to the negotiating table". This amounts to little more than a politically movitivated points scoring agenda.

Did Telstra mangement/negtiating team physically not turn up to meetings - or did that not bow down and pander to Union demands? By not agreeing cat-blanche to demands/requests does NOT mean they did not "come to the table" - it means they held their ground.

I'm not a union member, but have in the past lost my job due to Union arrogance where they were demanding 12% per year increases and the company was offering 4% per year (therefore above CPI rate).

The union didnt budge one bit yet the company moved up a couple % 3 times before finally biting the bullet and closing the business down - 400 people out of work because 1 bloody minded union group wanted a "fair and better deal" for their people.

Truth is the union didnt want a "fair deal" at all - they simply wanted to rape the company for all it was worth and their failure to move resulted in hundreds of families suffering.

Take your single minded statements elsewhere

    @points scoring Anonymous -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124315)

He isn't the only one with single minded statements. Yours couldn't be any more single minded.

In fact they sound like staged bs to me.

Lend Lease, Pac Brands and many more are laying off workers, even while Pac Brands bosses are giving themselves hefty pay rises, which I'm sure you'd agree with.

All redundant employees only have one real avenue and one organistaion who will help them, and guess who that is?

Yes their union. Best to leave your fairytales to the brother Grimm.

re points scoring nothing but a cheap shot. Anonymous -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124315)

Well said. Although most of us are glad to see the end of Sol, he cannot be blamed for everything that has gone bad at Telstra. The unions certainly have a lot to answer for, with their constant unfair wage demands, in a failing economy. It certainly is about time, that a lot of the incessant whinging ceased.

Unfair? Anonymous -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124353)

Who said their demands are unfair?

Non union Telstra employees have bragged to us how they have received salaries greater than those of their union counterparts?

Maybe it's about time your incessant grandstanding and bs ceased.

"Who said their demands are unfair?"

    I did, can't you read ?

And it was not "incessant grandstanding" but merely stating a fact. Perhaps you should take heed of the "Non union Telstra employees" who you say have been "bragging about their received salaries greater than those of their union counterparts". Maybe that is your real beef.

Sis Anonymous -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124365)

Who said their demands are unfair? You did.

Wow well done Princess. I'm sure you've enlightened us all now. I bet you were, or are still the dux or goose of the school.

The only beef I have is with morons coming to these forums and lying about ***t to push their own agenda.

Firstly you blame the unions for their unfair wage claims, now you say I should take heed of the non union employees, because they make more anyway.

    Make up our mind, sis.

a lot to answer for? Anonymous -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320124353)

the unions have had no power for past 12 years, so what have they to answer for? Wage rises for the workers have been below inflation, whilst management recieved 50% increases over the past 5 years, the workers lost benefits and conditions. The current impasse was started well before the greedy end of town ruined it for the entire planet! But youre right, its the 20% of workers who are the unions, who cause all the trouble.

unlike Telstra executives simon -- 09/03/09 (in reply to #320124315)

"they simply wanted to rape the company for all it was worth " - so are you saying that the unions and telstra management are just the same then?

Sol has moved billions of A$ to his US mates and to services businesses that he has interests in. Senior management got their 30% pay rises last year and yet you're bitchin about 12% over 3 years? So, in your opinion the unions are greedy commies but the yanks are just savvy businessmen?

Our internet services are slower than anywhere else in the world , 2 times more expensive , staff live in day to day fear , executives are rude and arrogant and self opinionated , the billing system that forced a monthly billing cycle on me is stupid , dumb and ineffcient and now costs me more than my old quarterly account and service well thats just a big fat zero !

Bugger off Sol and I hope you choke on the tequila and I hope Obama recognises you for the massive and abject failure you have been in the eyes of thinking Australians. So where's Sydney Lawrence's opinion on all this? C'mon Syd, what have you got to say about your old hero's demise?

Sol did OK. Sydney Lawrence -- 27/02/09 (in reply to #320124253)

Sol didn't "demise" he simply decided that having got Telstra to a certain position, and having others capable of proceeding Telstra successfully, he would return to his homeland, the United States where he will probably be requested to assist President Obama to run the NBN roll-out in the States. No problems.

Sol did nothing of value. Mel Sommersberg -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320124289)

He cut and run Sydney, no other nice way of putting it. He's left before his contract expired and he did it off his own bat. He's a loser and a sore one at that.

His inexperience as a leader is demonstrated by the fact that he either knew what he was in for if he accepted the role at Telstra and didn't have the knowledge to deal with it or he was wearing the same rose-coloured glasses that you have on and simply couldn't comprehend the challenge that lied ahead.

On the contrary Jason -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320125279)

Droll Jason, very droll Mel Sommersberg -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320125297)

Who cares what Labor or Liberal think? Though to balance your argument Labor supported Telstra's appointment of Sol just as much as the then Government did.

They all, without exception, thought that Sol would be a breath of fresh air for Telstra and thought that he'd be a successful visionary leader who would bolster Telstra's share price and not treat Telstra's punters or taxpayers like dummies.

How wrong they were all to be.

Thanks comrade Jason -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320125301)

Welcome Mr Tolstoy Anonymous -- 03/03/09 (in reply to #320124654)

Obviously you do not want to know.

It appears that you suffer from Tolstoys syndrome (confirmation/belief bias), whereby, when a person collects information, they (you) interpret this information not as it was intended, but to suit or fit within their (your) already preconceived biases. They (you) can even interpret positive information negatively and vice versa, to suit these biases and nothing that anyone says will change their (your) mind.

You say your original question wasn't answered. But your original comment had two parts, a question and an 'incorrect sarcastic' statement. I supplied proof, after you later wrongly suggested I had 'run out of facts to support my debate', to totally disprove your sarcastic statement, once and for all.

I demonstrated that it was proven 'in court' Telstra, not the unions, were telling your so called 'constant spin, furphies and having general delusions of grandeur'.

But don't let a factual court ruling deter you on your crusade of mistruths. Because unfortunately, due to the Tolstoys you simply brush aside the facts to fit your belief bias. But please feel free to attempt to disprove my Tolstoy theory by actually adressing and commenting on the court rulings instead of stubbornly ignoring the facts, continuing your disproven spin and just demanding 'your' question answered.

Now in relation to your the other part of your comment, the burning question. I seriously doubt Mr. Cooper would actually bother reading your rantings here, so he probably hasn't even seen your question? Although I'm sure you think he's avoiding your brilliance? So if you want to claim a technicality, again to fit your Tolstoys syndrome, please feel free to do so.

However, although I do not know any better than you, I think we can both safely assume that the ACTU, being the peak body of the union movement, would be called upon regularly, to assist and offer advice.

Especially when dealing with a multi-billion dollar company who's CEO has links to the powerful US Republican party (McCains right hand man). A man who would be making more money alone, than the entire ACTU combined. A company who probably spend more in a day on legal expenses, than you and I combined make annually.

Under these circumstances, I think the 'average Aussie worker' needs all the help he/she can get. So good on the unions.

Perhaps the Liberal party website would better suit your limited capacity.

Telstra shares finished at another all time low of $3.06 today.

But in all seriousness and putting all nastiness aside SMN, I'll be on your side of the fence and buying in, if they go sub $3.00.

Even though I highlight their underperformance, I'm sure they will bounce back.

    Well said Josef.

    @ unions - Josef Wasim Akram -- 02/03/09 (in reply to #320124488)

    Welcome, Josef Answar.

But fancy coming here and making such an inflammatory comment! It's as though you are intentionally trying to pick a fight with 'someone', Josef Answar?

Perhaps being here in a thread which has primarily come and gone to all but maybe 2 or 3, tells a story. Perhaps also, for some strange reason, you are even picking this fight with the undisputed champion of the world, the mysterious and legendary Sugar Ray Jason, rofl, Josef Answar.

Why would you want to do that, Josef Answar? The last person who tried was 'a hideous, moronic circus freak, named Sydney ****

We all know what happened to this circus freak, Sydney **** don't we Josef Answar? He GAVE HIS WORD (not that, that seems to mean anything from such a disgraceful ***k) that he had, had enough of Jason continually outwitting and humiliating him and he ungraciously backed down like the rabid, mangy cur he is. You aren't wanting that too, are you Josef Answar?

Once this has occured, you aren't then looking to go to every thread anonymously (like Sydney **** did) and take little childish, anonymous swipes at Jason too, are you Josef Answar? For the record I note that after the cur Sydney **** surrendered to the superior person, that the superior person, Jason, did not do like Sydney **** and childishly carry on at every thread.

Strangely and most coincidentally since Sydney Mike's most degrading and ego busting departure, it seems to me, you have just happened to have taken over in a very similar vein as cowardly Sydney **** Josef Answar.

Now I'm not accusing you of for one moment of actually being Sydney **** Josef Answar, because surely, even a cretinous moron like Sydney **** can at least stick to his word once and/or for more than 1 day?

So I must say Josef Answar, that whilst I personally do not agree with you, I respect your opinion, as everyone is entitled to their views.

But good luck in trying to pick your fight, Josef Answar! I'll let serial protagonist and all round great guy Jason, know that you and another anonymous poster as well, who has also magically appeared, are both looking for him, since the moron, Sydney **** has been knocked unconscious, by the champ!

So much so that "one of us", has to go to every forum and say ridiculous childish ***t (just like one of us used to with Joe) similar to the above, about the other. Lmfao.

The reason for doing so, is because one of us - (((YOU))) has been humiliated, out debated, out thought, out everythinged, you stupid ***k and now there's nothing else YOU can do, because you are too small and aren't man enough to concede defeat. So the childish avenue you must take.

Fancy losing your family's life savings, you poor pitiful, ***ked in the head, $3.21 per share, penniless, dumb***k moron.

Well "Mr Know it All Wise Guy", you may wish to know that due to your constant reminders, and daily Telstra price watch, I put together a nice parcel of Telstra shares a week ago, and am now looking forward to receiving the fully franked dividend. With tax savings, this works out to be better than any short term interest bearing deposit, currently on offer. And I now get to take the family on holidays, which will be paid for in total with the dividends. Thanks knucklehead, for keeping me posted on what has turned out to be a very good opportunity.

Hey again $3.14 Sperm man. Mr know it all wise guy, rofl -- 10/03/09 (in reply to #320125245)

Why don't you use your real name any more ((Sydney **** We all know it's you anyway. Though I guess Sperm man does suit you better and as it is your preferred name, as you requested 8/3. I'll play along with your continued stupidity because you are so much fun, my boy!

But see, it just goes to show you that I have been right all along, Sperm man. You do, wait with bated breath for every word your hero, me, says.

Because of this I'm chuffed that I, your now even more obvious hero, could help and believe under the circumstances, a big "THANK YOU JASON" is in order. Don't you? After all, you even admit that if it wasn't for me rescuing you from your own stupidity, your family would still be starving, rofl.

I have always said that I pitied you, because it's not your fault you were unkindly born with psychiatric problems. Being so you need all the help you can get, so I don't mind throwing you a bone (hey get that bone out of your mouth) hungry boy. Perhaps I can get a tax saving too, from all this charitable moron work, lol.

So as you are sitting back, on holidays in your caravan (that you rented from me - lol) please tell your not so hungry family to "praise our saviour and hero Jason", because without him we'd be without holiday but even more importantly, without food!

Now gather the family around and repeat, THANK YOU JASON, WE LOVE YOU JASON. Oh enough!

Even your old foe/new frined MS is joining me and having a go at you investment guru's, check it out.

Hey again $3.14 Sperm man. Your Hero - Sydney Mike -- 14/03/09 (in reply to #320125309)

Jason, I don't care if they go down to $ 1.50. Their is no loss, except on paper, while the shares are retained, and the market will (as has been proven historically over time) eventually recover. And time is something I have plenty of, so keep on laughing and throwing the s..t that amuses you so much, at anyone who questions your sanity, cos that is all you are so obviously capable of doing. I guess it makes you feel good in that fantasy world of yours, but underneath the charade, I think you are just a sad and sorrowful clown, harboring an inherent grudge against Telstra and/or anyone who has anything to say or do in favour of them. Incidentally, I had cause to speak with Telstra's service support team yesterday, and they were fantastic. I believe that Telstra's future is bright, and will continue to maintain that attitude for as long as it takes.

    Sydeny ****! Jason -- 14/03/09 (in reply to #320125658)

I do not hold a grudge against Telstra whatsoever. In fact when I have my inevitable run ins with your new pal and Telstra's #1 hater Mel (Mel$tra) Sommersberg, he actually accuses me of being a Telstra loving fanboi, so...

I believe Telstra has a bright future too. In fact if you hadn't have jumped in blind as usual and read here under $3.06, you may actually learn something.

it is not surprising this freak took Australia for a ride, the problem with this Country it has little faith in its own kind, you can not blame the criminals if you hand out temptation on a plate, arrogance is allways rewarded as the case with this type of low class individual, this World is made for them, they feel no shame nor guilt, the blame lies with the elite who are the ones that decide the fate for the people, they are similar to this guy, they all belong to the same club, and believe that they are the chosen few, to me they are all part of the corruption and so many of the working class morons support these phlebs, not only the general pack are so often against the good of the public as the upper elites have conditioned these drones in to a demise of their health and well being, it is of little surprise the Telstra shares are duds, just think you contributed to the 40 million dollars to the coffers of this guy, and hopefully just some of you will start getting the game, unfortunately their is not enough to change the destiny of mankind to raise the level of consciousness to the next level as the Wests psyche has been fragmented and we have not the right Araldite to put Humpty Dumpty back again, don wreford.
