UXC's Integ cuts staff by six
UXC communications subsidiary Integ has cut six field engineers from its workforce as part of a strategy refocus for the coming year.

"That part of our business of implementing communications solutions to small to medium sized business we have done in the past [but not anymore]," Integ CEO Ian Poole told ZDNet.com.au. The firm had now decided to focus on catering for medium to large corporate and government organisations, he said.
The work which was being completed by the retrenched employees will likely be outsourced to a company with which Integ was currently in negotiations, Poole said. He was unwilling to divulge the company's identity but said there was the possibility that it would pick up the laid-off workers.
Poole said that the employees had worked hard and he hoped they would find new positions swiftly. "We've been very fair with the way we've treated them," he said.
The redundancies have brought staff numbers down to 159, but Poole said there were no plans for further cuts. In fact, the company would be looking to hire employees in areas such as consulting and high-level design to be able to meet the needs of the core market it has decided to focus on. When queried on how many staff he thought would be taken on, Poole said he couldn't guess, saying only that recruitment would be ongoing.
Poole was excited about the opportunities in the medium to large corporate and government sector, saying the company would likely be in the position to make positive announcements soon.
