Telstra workers will strike after negotiations with the company's management over enterprise bargaining agreements reached a deadlock, its main union said today.

The Communications, Electrical, Plumbing Union (CEPU) on Wednesday said that the telco giant was trying to punish employees who wanted a union-negotiated workplace agreement by offering them less pay.

"(Telstra) is waging war on its employees by offering only a pathetic pay rise over three years and refusing to allow its employees to have access to arbitration for fair treatment," the union's president Len Cooper said.

In response, Telstra workers have voted to start ongoing industrial action from Friday.

Cooper said the strike would disrupt maintenance and installation of high-tech services, communication systems, internet and computer services, particularly for corporate and government customers. It may also impact upon the telephone and data network transmission systems throughout Australia, he said.

    YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cooper and the CEPU Anonymous -- 04/11/09

You were warned this would happen Cooper. So your answer is to inflict damage on the company while the few members you have lose money. No wonder your union is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Perhaps you should have recommended members take the 12.5% offer last year...fool. Now I'll sit back an await RS's moronic comments.

And I'll bet he certainly does have some !

@Cooper and CEPU RS -- 04/11/09 (in reply to #320390594)

In reply to the first Cooper and CEPU comment, not the typical, childish idiocy in the one under from New in. Although the last sentence shows similarities in stupidity...

Unlike comms, a spat between Telstra and the CEPU has absolutely no bearing upon me and Australians in general, so I have no interest nor comment, Telstra puppet.

Funny how despearte and insecure you puppets are though. RS this and RS that, lol!

Also as far as moronic comments are concerned, why would anyone even try to compete with you?

Like Telstra, you already have the monopoly...

No impact just like last time, the Telstra AWA staff and Non Union staff will undertake all Network activities.
Great job cooper just cost your dwindling number of union members more money!!!!

As a person with some knowledge of the Union Movement in Australia I understand the problems that are encountered when attempting to gain advantages for employees.

The Telstra situation at the moment is special in so far as the Company (who lays the golden egg) is under severe attack from a Government which would cause a dramatic change in employment numbers and employment opportunities.

I would think that those who guide the Union would firstly confront the challenge of the future prospects for their Members. Why are these Union leaders not speaking out against a Government that intends damage to Union Members?

What more can you possibly expect from a person making such an idiotic comment like that, Syd. I know it is insulting your intelligence to suggest it, but keep throwing it back at them, mate. They really do deserve it.

.............were you at the agm, smarty. Anonymous -- 06/11/09 (in reply to #320390819)

And I'll bet you were the dag, hanging from one of the sheep did not attend and would therefore know absolutely Jack Sh*t about what took place at the meeting. Baa Baa !!!

Telstra AGM, ho hum... RS -- 06/11/09 (in reply to #320390843)

You can tell Telstra just had their little pep talk AGM, can't you!

Sydney, there in the AGM trenches in his camo gear and bling, hear hearing every word and saying praise the lord (I mean God bless Telstra) like he was in a Louisianan preacher's pulpit.

Vasso watching online, with his Bigpond quota ticking over, standing saluting, waving the portfolio like a mad man.

And Stupid (oops Sydney) Mike saying yeah, take that RS. David said RS, RS, RS, RS, lol..

This simply means, we again (or rather still, but more so) have to suffer being bombarded, with their maniacal TLS (Telstra Loser) greed and stupidity!

    Y A W N...

Not an Aussie Anonymous. Sydney Lawrence -- 08/11/09 (in reply to #320390879)

Anon you are sickening. Also, you are a traitor to Australia and Australians.

Do you not know who the Telstra shareholders, of whom you belittle are? They are the average, hard working Moms and Dad Aussies who have invested in an Australian company, Telstra.

The backbone of the Nation is the happy hearted throng, of ordinary people who go swinging right along, they live in modest houses and they work from day to day, and the papers never notice what they do or what they say.

These are the Australian people you decry and would laugh at Anon and you should be ashamed.

aussie moms????????? Anonymous -- 08/11/09 (in reply to #320391049)

sydney you are beyond sickeniing and a complete fraud.

claiming aussie this and aussie that and then telling us about moms.

you should hang you head in shame trujillo wannabe, you are a complete sham.
