Shouldn't Telstra be out trying to impress the consumer rather than the judge?

    This is a joke.

    1. Joke will end up being on us Anonymous -- 18/01/08

I am glad that someone is trying to find out the truth for us. I don't want my $47 share of that money to be spent until I know it will do some good.

It's been over 6 months since the funding was announced and from the sounds of it there has been nothing done by Opel other then earning a bunch of interest on the money.

For a communications company they don't have a web site, they are still hanging off the Optus site. The old government's Broadband Connect site has been archived and the last official release I could find was about beginning industry consultation on broadband to the bush back in June

Let's hope this doesn't become another government funded white elephant, if the new government doesn't keep an eye on them my guess will be that they will take the money, invest it somewhere else and hope everyone forgets where it was slated to be invested.

    2. Broadband or fraudband! Anonymous -- 18/01/08

At the end of the day, the lawyers will have more than enough money to establish Australias new fraudband network.

It will run at lightning speed once you get through the terms and conditions of use which will be massive of course.

  2. Minister get my thousand million back. Sydney Lawrence -- 18/01/08

Senator Coonan and John Howard have a lot to answer for in this donation of one billion dollars to a company half owned by a foreign Government.
Senator Conroy please release all the relevant information on this possible mismanagement of public money by the previous Government.
Perhaps is would be timely for Opel to see the danger of an investment in a system that would probably be a failure and a shocking waste of public funds.
On second thoughts I can understand the attraction of a free gift of one billion dollars to scatter around and to bolster your company's asset backing.

  3. Spin doctors field day. Anonymous -- 18/01/08

Didn't someone post a link in these forums showing what REALLY goes on with these telcos.

They are only good for transferring Australias wealth into their own pockets.

    Bring on some competition.
