Ted Pretty, Telstra's group managing director Technology, Innovation and Products, issued his terse denial in response to unattributed speculation published in the e-mail newsletter of political and business gossip Web site Crikey.com.au.
In a statement relayed through a spokesperson, Pretty said "No.
"I'm here, I'm enthusiastic and I'm committed to Telstra".
The spokesperson declined to comment on additional unattributed claims in the Crikey item that managers in Pretty's area were trying to hide "failed technology investments running into tens of millions [of dollars]".
Speculation is rife about changes Trujillo may be planning for the telecommunications company, with some newspaper reports indicating he plans to appoint new heads of technology and operations at the carrier. The new chief executive started work at Telstra on Friday.
