I totally agree with the observation that Telstra has done the greatest dis-service to the nation by enticing folk into "broadband" at typically 256k - compared with overseas bandwidths this is FAR from a broadband speed and should under ACCC rules not be allowed to even be labelled broadband - they should be forced into some other marketing terminolgy and with other ISP's forced to declare 256k as Lo-Band available for free in the same way that they went out with Telstra "Easymail" some years ago. They should be "forced" then to arrange a product set around free Lo-Band so that there is a revenue stream and and easy way to upgrade onto true broadband speeds. All this 24month contract stuff too is just a further inhibitor to the "light and bright" nation we should be!
