    Telstra's proposed broadband network Anonymous -- 26/11/07

When is someone going to tell these turkeys at Telstra that we don't want their mythical high speed broadband network. Australia needs a proper high speed network at prices we can all afford with a level of customer service back up that Telstra has never ever been able to provide and never will. They have no idea what we need and are only prepared to build a substandard network that meets their needs and charge us an arm and a leg for it. It's a pity that their chiefs on their continual overseas junkets at our expense never go to South Korea or Singapore or places like that and see what a real broadband network looks like. To be fair, I am no fan of Optus either as they also will not build what we need. What ever we get, if we ever get anything, it will be substandard and keep us at third world standard.

Sounds like you will be unhappy regardless.

Why are we using our tax dollars to pay a bloated out of touch company to roll a new network. Telstra currently overcharges for out of date technologies, and we are now sacrificing our future to fatten up telstra.
I'm off to Comsec to buy Telstra.

Substandard? Price or Service Anonymous -- 27/11/07 (in reply to #320090558)

You would like a bells and whistles service at a no frills price, when will you wake up and realise that you get what you pay for. You can pay half what I pay but you can also have an unreliable service that won't even be built for another 3-5 years.

By any measure, Telstra (BigPond) service is substandard. For example, if you go to SingTel site, you can get a 6Mbps service, unlimited download with a heap of extras (TV & content) for A$40 per month. Check around a few countires and see how bad it is.
