"It is bizarre that Telstra, the only national carrier with a true regional presence, has to prepare a plan stating that it has a presence while competitors, who don't have a presence, aren't require to do so and are free to piggyback and cherry-pick in profitable city areas," she told AAP.
And why is this bizarre? Telstra still has a monopoly position in this country as a result of infrastructure that WE have paid for over many years. It has a legal obligation to share this.
Oh, and let's not forget that it gets paid to share this infrastructure too.
And the Telco's that "cherry-pick" all contribute to the Universal Service Obligations funding that Telstra seems to be happy to draw on.
Telstra is just like a big brother who is complaining that his little sister can do bad things and he can't. And even if the little sister IS doing some bad things, that's no excuse for the big brother to complain that it can't behave that way too.
Time for Telstra to grow up and start providing real service to customers.

This gal makes Dick Alston look bright.Telstra writes the rules,Helen signs off and Telstra laughs all the way to the bank.Even Alston couldn't have made such a complete mess of Telecommunications in this country in such a short time.Does the opposition have a view or are they too busy watching Plasma TV as well.
