Yes, Next G is WCDMA on 850MHz and this means it's a good combination of the latest technology. According to the tests done by the manufacturers (read up on it) coverage from a cell can be 200KM+, surely a better deal than the theoretical 160KM from a CDMA base station, or 63 / 125 KM from a GSM (TDMA) system. So why hasn't Huchinson/3 built out their 3G 2100MHz WCDMA network into country areas yet also? Maybe the regulator should ask them why not instead of trying to control one company - let customers vote with their feet.
The ignorance by some makes me sick, it's the same understanding of radio networks which makes the public think towers radiate! No they don't, "Antenna's" do the radiating and they are on top of the towers! They put them up that high to get more coverage.

If CDMA95/2000/1x is "analog", does that mean every 3GSM network (including NextG) is also analog, as they too rely on CDMA?

CDMA is not an analogue service; it's a digital system, just as NextG/3G is. Next G is a WCDMA based system which is Wideband CDMA, making it very closely related to the current CDMA network.
Semantic point, I know, but one that should be clarified because it might give the wrong impression of the current CDMA network, which is far from 'outdated' in the grand scheme of things.
