A TeleOne spokesperson confirmed the number of redundancies, but refused to comment further on the layoffs.
The move comes less than two months after the telco launched its services, talking up how the company would heighten the level of competition through aggressive pricing of phone calls -- a strategy not dissimilar to that of the failed One.Tel.
In a statement issued prior to its launch, TeleOne claimed to have been swamped by job applications, a number from former One.Tel staff, and potential customers.
