ZDNet Australia reported Internode's victory in late February but the government only today released a statement confirming the renewal of its relationship with the supplier.
"Internode will provide dual, redundant fibre optic links, with bandwidth capacity of one gigabit per second, to the South Australian government's Internet gateway," an e-mailed statement from the carrier said this afternoon.
"Internet services are then delivered to the agency level by the government's internal network."
The state's infrastructure minister Patrick Conlon said Internode had won the deal over "much larger and global companies". He added the contract delived a "50 percent reduction" in the cost-per-megabyte of Internet access.
Internode said it had provided the state with services for more than a decade, with services under the new contract commencing last month.
