But however you find most data centre are like that anyway
There are no ceiling tiles on the roof above this area of the facility. With regards to the security of the station, both passive motion detectors and security sensors are being installed in the coming weeks.
The station is manned and montioring occurs 24/7.

Let's just hope that the "unnamed customer" isn't trying for a reapeat of the USA's AT&T/NSA wiretap scandal.

It could even be the Aust. Govt ... with their love of secrecy these days, it's not like we'd ever be permitted to find out.
I agree with you anonymous 'No so secure' - the physical and electronic security doesn't look very robust - and you're asbsolutely correct about the cage and ceiling tiles. Lets hope they do better with their information security protocols
The cage is a delineation within the data centre for that customer rather than a full-on security barrier. Electronic locks will be fitted prior to customer occupation of this section to control approved access. Cameras and motion detectors will alert the 24/7 station staff to any unapproved access by one of the few people who have access to the Data Centres. Walls, floors & ceilings of the Data Centres are solid concrete. The electronically and camera monitored access doors are solid, fire rated, with electronic locks to be fitted pre-customer occupation. External cameras will also be monitoring for would be touble makers.

i can't see any sign of a halon gas fire system fitted either.
The Cable Landing Station will incorporate the FM200 and VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) in all technical areas of the facility. These are being installed in the coming weeks.

Is that you Sol or somebody spreading FUD from Southern Star? Scared about another compeditor providing international capacity?
I bet its blizzard that owns it. Putting in Oceanic servers finally.
hahahaha why would they buy space in a CLS when they could buy space in any number of datacentres in Sydney.
The cage will be someone who has bought major capacity on the cable and wants to house their equipment there.
Considering both iiNet and Internode are big stakeholders in the project, its pretty likely that one of those two is taking that space.
