The carrier announced today it would offer the Personal Broadband iBurst product to its existing suite of fixed-wire and wireless broadband offerings. The company already resells an Unwired wireless service which is designed primarily for static use due to the size of the modem required.
People Telecom's chief executive officer, Ryan O'Hare, told ZDNet Australia the company would be offering the iBurst service in Sydney from now, with the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra to follow over the next four to six weeks. People Telecom has already received its first shipment of 200 modems and will order additional ones as required.
O'Hare also flagged what he described as "a major change in the e-interface" between People Telecom and its customers, but declined to give further details.
People Telecom is anticipating revenues of more than AU$100 million this financial year after completing the national rollout of a virtual private IP data network and merging the operations of the Swiftel and People Telecom businesses.
